Choosing and Using Hair Gels for Men

Choosing and Using Hair Gels for Men

A big part of feeling good is looking good. Whether it’s working out, finding the right clothes, or picking the perfect cologne, you just can’t help but feel good inside when you look good on the outside. The same goes for our hair. There’s no feeling as frustrating as walking around with a messy head of hair. A lot of men use pomade and hair wax to achieve a messy coiffe, but there’s so much more you can do.

We’ll show you some of the best uses for hair products that will help with bedhead, bald spots, and other male hair issues:

1. Kiehl’s Crème with Silk Groom

This particular gel is recommended for men with short and straight hair that doesn’t have a whole lot of volume. A little of this product adds moisture to hold your hair, but doesn’t give that unappealing “wet” look that other hair gels can. The cream creates a stiff, yet weightless hold on your hair and feels like you’re not wearing any product.

2. Malin + Goetz Sage Styling Cream

Designed for men with thinner and flatter hair, this cream is great for constructing shape and volume. It acts more like a conditioner than a heavy waxy hair cream and leaves a pleasant citrus scent that lingers long after applying to your hair.

3. V76 by Vaughn Molding Paste

This paste is for men with longer, wavier hair, which requires a stronger hold. It’s best to apply this paste immediately after the shower. The paste dries quickly and doesn’t leave your hair wet or crunchy-looking. You can run your fingers through your hair all day and still have a strong hold.

4. Baxter of California Hard Cream Pomade

If your hair is coarse and thick then this is the product for you. It’s made for taming hair into place rather than simply styling it. This pomade cultivates a tight hold and no one will even notice you’re wearing product.

5. Paul Mitchell Mitch Clean Cut Styling Hair Cream

The last product on our list made for longer hair that barely needs any adjustment throughout the day. This cream is less clean-cut and can create a gritty look. It will give your hair a strong hold with a semi-matte finish, giving you an effortless look.
